What Brings You Peace?

What brings you peace

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7)

The Lord’s presence brings us peace. Our joy is always in Jesus of Nazareth, even when circumstances change. His gentleness calms our troubled heart. His closeness leaves no room for fear. The peace within Him surpasses all of our understanding. He calls us not to be anxious, because He is near, and He knows how to help us.

I find it interesting that our old nature sometimes wants us to take matters into our own hands. It wants us to try to figure things out on our own. However, our new nature is completely the opposite, for it remains confident in Him. It remembers that we are branches grafted into the new vine. Our life is now His life, and we no longer live for ourselves but live completely entrusting our lives to Him.

In the new life, there is no struggle and there is no strain from the vine’s perspective. It simply gives life, in all of its abundance, to every branch that wants to remain in union with it. The vine gives its life to shelter, protect, and defend the branches at all cost, and nothing will ever separate any branch that wants to stay connected to the life it provides.

If you are interested in experiencing the peace of God, then make peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ. He loves you, and died for you, to set you free from the greatest fear of all – separation from the One who is love, and who makes His love available to you.

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, and you struggle with anxiety, then maybe something in this post has stirred your heart. If so, then please share your thoughts.

Lord Jesus,

I pray for your presence to guard the heart and the mind of every believer in you. Bring your peace to calm every troubled heart and to soothe every aching soul. Comfort those in need, give hope to those who are discouraged and strengthen those who are weak. Offer your rest to the weary, salvation to the lost, and life to every person who is hungry and thirsty for you. Amen.
