If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:8-10)
Our sin can cause separation in our lives, and if we allow it to take root and flourish. It can close our heart off to the love of God, and sear our mind from hearing His voice. If our sin continues, we will sow corrupt seeds where we believe the fruit of our own lies that we are without sin, and therefore we do not need God’s forgiveness.
As we choose to cultivate this field of lies, we will be repulsed by the Truth (Jesus Christ), and we will remain lost within the kingdom of darkness. Satan’s deception will make us think that Jesus is a liar, and therefore we will find no value in hearing His word.
However, if we agree with God that we have sinned, we can be unafraid to make it known to Him. We can know that God is faithful to forgive our sin and to remove those things that make us unfit for His kingdom.
Thank you that we can agree with you that we have sinned. You are the only One who can forgive our sin and wash us clean from all defilement. We choose to believe in you as the Truth, and we ask you to plant your Word in our lives so that we can grow abundantly. Thank you for removing us from the kingdom of darkness, and bringing us into your kingdom of light. Amen.
