I see Satan as a dissatisfied cherub who left his post because he thought he could usurp God’s authority.
Scripture depicts him as:
- a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).
- he likes to masquerade as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:4)
- he must submit to God’s power and authority (eg. Job 1:12)
- he will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders (by means of the lawless one) that serve the lie and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They will perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)
Thank you for helping us to know our enemy, so that we can be made aware of his deceitful schemes to lead us away from you. May you continue to help us to love the truth, and refuse the lies, so that we can be saved and enjoy an ongoing relationship with you, throughout all of eternity. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen.
What about you? How do you view Satan? Thanks for your response!
