Are you feeling stressed? Take a look at this chimpanzee. As you can see, he has the right idea: he is choosing to lay back, put his feet up, and enjoy his surroundings.
Are you willing to do the same?
If finding rest is an option for you right now, then go and find it. Stop what you are doing, and go and enjoy some rest. You will be glad that you did.
However, what if relief is not so readily available? What can you do?
Prayer is the first step towards entering into God’s rest. He is your shelter and your provider. If you are feeling stressed at this moment, then step aside from what you are doing, and start to pray. Ask God to reveal His presence with you, to come and minister to you, and to show you the fullness of His life.
As a believer in Jesus of Nazareth, you are a temple of the Holy Spirit, and His presence dwells within you. You always have the peace of God readily available to you because you have made peace with God through faith in His Son. Any form of worry that you have entertained will never add a single moment to your life, and any fear that has bothered you can easily be driven away by His perfect love.
Soak in His unique love for you! Allow His conviction to bring you life, as He shares His best with you. As you desire His presence, He will bring you into repentance and rest so that you can experience His salvation, and in the midst of your quietness and trust, He will also show you His strength. (Isaiah 30:15)
You are His child, and you belong to Him, for your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. Therefore, your soul will always find rest in God, for your salvation comes from Him. He alone is your Rock and your salvation; He is your fortress and you will never be shaken (Psalm 62:1-2).
Take another deep breath!
Whenever you feel depleted, remember that your soul can return to this state of rest at any time, for the Lord has always been good to you (Psalm 116:7). Therefore, let His goodness comfort you in your grief, sustained you in your weakness, and refresh you whenever you feel overwhelmed.
Go further in His rest for you. If you are feeling tired, take a short nap. If you are hungry, have something to eat. If you are thirsty, have something to drink. God knows your needs, and He also wants you to become aware of them.
God’s rest is always available to you because Jesus has laid down His life for you. He desires to continue to replenish you with everything you need. For He is your true vine, and you are His righteous branch. The Holy Spirit gladly bears His fruit within you, and your Heavenly Father generously lifts you up, so that you can be more fruit.
Now that you have taken a few moments to read this post, take a few moments to pray. Ask God for what you need, and follow His direction.
Bring rest, comfort, and security to every believer in you. May they encounter your peace instead of worry, your love instead of fear, your reassurance in place of uncertainty, and your wisdom to lead them forward. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen.
