You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. (Nehemiah 9:6)
Lord God Almighty,
How marvelous it is that you have stretched out the heavens like a tent, and you look down upon the earth from your holy dwelling place. You separated the water above from the water below the earth, and you made a beautiful “sky”. You called the dry ground “land”, and the gathered waters you called “seas”.
The design of your firmament is a wonderful creation, as you have spread out the vault of the sky and the floor of the earth. Your heavens declare your own glory, and your skies proclaim the work of your hands. We worship you, Lord, in the splendor of your holiness. We, and all the earth, will tremble before you!
You made two great lights – the greater light (the sun) to govern the day and the lesser light (the moon) to govern the night, and you also made the stars. You sit enthroned above the circle of the earth, and you rule and reign according to your own power and authority. There is none like you, and none before you.
The foundations of the earth belong to you, and upon them you have set the world in place. You hold its pillars firm, and it cannot be moved. You alone were present when you laid the earth’s foundation, marked off its dimensions, and stretched a measuring line across it. You know the earth, and you know it full well.
We give you praise, for even those in the underworld will acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. Every creature in heaven, on the earth, and under the earth will acknowledge the Lamb of God saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” (Revelation 5:13) . Amen.
