Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8a)
We are nothing, and we gain nothing without love. We may boast in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but they too will cease, and they will pass away for something greater. When we see God face to face, and know Him as we are fully known, then love will be truly manifested. For we will see Him as He is, and we will be known as we are.
Thank you for your great love. You are patient with us, wanting no one to perish. You are kind and bring us to repentance. You desire the very best for us, having humbled yourself in Jesus, and calling us by your name. You honor us with your presence, causing all things to work together for our good, and you are not easily angered. Our sin has been remembered no more, because Jesus took it away. You do not rejoice in evil, but rejoice with us in the truth, and Jesus is the truth. You always protect us, you are completely trustworthy, forever our hope is in you, and you know how to help us to persevere. Thank you for your love, for your love never fails. Amen.
