Vacation Prayer

“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” (Mark 6:31b)

Jesus knew the importance of resting. When Jesus and the disciples were busy feeding the multitudes of people, they found no time for refreshment. When they had not eaten, Jesus called them away to spend time with Him. So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place (Mark 6:32).

Taking a vacation is one way we can receive rest. It gives us the opportunity to do something different, and even take a break from stressful situations. Its a way of refreshing our soul with fun things to do, eating good food, and maintaining proper sleep. Getting away can be a nice thing to do for yourself, but you can also enjoy the company of family or friends.

Are you going on a vacation? Then take a moment to consider this prayer:

Dear Jesus:

I look forward to getting away. You know how much I’ve needed this rest, and the time has come for me to refresh my soul. Help me to prepare by packing what I need, and making sure that nothing important is left undone. Remind me what I need to do before I go, and let me not worry about anything while I am away. I trust you with all my heart to guide my steps, and to provide me with safe travel. Let me get away to a quiet place with you to find some rest. Thank you. Amen.
