Do You Need Comfort?

holy spirit

The Holy Spirit is our Comforter. He comes alongside and dwells within every believer in Jesus Christ. He is excellent at providing relief, offering help, and strengthening us during times of weakness. Here are some favorite bible verses for your comfort:

  • When you are afraid, remember that the Lord is your stronghold (Psalm 27:1). He goes before you, is with you, and promises never to leave you, so you don’t need to fear or be dismayed (Deuteronomy 31:8). Even when it seems like you are going through the valley of death, remember He is right there with you, with his rod and staff to comfort you (Psalm 23:4).
  • You are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you. Therefore, you can be certain that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus your Lord (Romans 8:37-39).
  • The Lord is a refuge whenever you feel oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9). He promises to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). When you mourn, you will be comforted (Matthew 5:4), and whenever you feel weary or heavy laden, Jesus will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I pray that you would comfort everyone who is need of your comfort. May you reassure them of your presence, lead them into all truth, and strengthen their soul to feel refreshed and encouraged. You know them intimately, and you greatly care for them. Let them experience the love of Jesus, the closeness of the Father, and your reassuring words of comfort. May they be blessed to experience your presence, and reminded that they are never alone. Amen.
