But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:44-48)
Thank you for reminding me not only to love my neighbor, but to love my enemies. I choose to pray for those who persecute me, so that I can remember that I am a child of my Father in heaven.
You remind me of how you bring forth good to those who are declared righteous and unrighteous, because you are a good Father. May my good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise you, my heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:16)
You’re right, its easy for me to love my friends, but real love includes loving my enemies – going out of my way to do good for them. I am amazed by your perfect love, and how you love everyone.
Thank you for being the perfect Father.
