Prayer For Illness

sick

Heavenly Father,

I pray for those who are dealing with illness.

May they find comfort from the Holy Spirit who knows how to help, provide relief, and cheer up those who are struggling with illness.

May they find strength from the Lord Jesus who enables them to do all things through Him, and who has compassion on everyone who faces disease.

May they hold onto their Father who rejoices over them with singing, and who did not spare even His own Son to show us His love.

In the midst of their illness may they meditate upon your Word to find comfort, strength and encouragement:

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. (Psalm 103:2-4)

Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15)

Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

Know that the LORD is with you. He will strengthen you and help you; He will uphold you with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). May you pay attention to your Father. Turn your ear to His words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body (Proverbs 4:20-22).

Your Father loves you, and He has compassion on everyone who turns to His Son, Jesus, for their salvation. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father, but through Him. Receive His love and receive His salvation. Amen.
