I’m having trouble sleeping. My mind doesn’t want to shut off, and I need my rest. Please comfort me and reassure me of your presence. If you want me to pray about something, bring it clearly to my mind, if not, then let me rest in peace. In peace I can lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8).
When I am afraid, I know that your perfect love casts out all fear, because fear has to do with punishment, and the one who fears has not been perfected in love (1 John 4:18). If I lack peace, I know that I can make my requests known to you, with thanksgiving, and your peace will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
Help me to feel better, and to be able to rest in your presence. As I return to sleep I will not be afraid, as I lie down my sleep will be sweet (Proverbs 3:24). May I enjoy the sweet sleep of a laborer (Ecclesiastes 5:12), and give all my troubles to you. I can relax because you watch over me — You are my shade at my right hand; the sun will not harm me by day, nor the moon by night (Psalm 121:5-6).
Thank you Father for hearing my prayer. My sleep is important to you, so I enter into your rest through the provision of Jesus of Nazareth. May I be renewed in strength, and may I wake up feeling refreshed. Your mercy is new every morning, and your faithfulness carries me through the night.
