Knowing God’s Will

What is God’s will for your life? How can you know it?

It is both surprising and encouraging to discover what the bible says about knowing God’s will. Following the Great Commission is one of the primary ways of knowing His will, but did you also know that scripture speaks of many other things?

Here is a sampling of what other things are included in fulfilling God’s will:

  • it is His desire for you to  be sanctified once and for all through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus, the Messiah (Hebrews 10:10)
  • to rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
  • to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may learn by experience what God’s will is – that which is good and beautiful and perfect (Romans 12:2)
  • have reference for God, and do His will, so that God listens to you (John 9:31)
  • to know that the Holy Spirit intercedes for people in accordance with the will of God (Romans 8:27)
  • follow the direction of the governing authorities that God has instituted, so that you do not bring judgement upon yourself (Romans 13:2)
  • godly sorrow is in accordance with the will of God, because it produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Heavenly Father, thank you for being able to know your will for my life. Help to know your Word, and to know you better. Let your Holy Spirit bring to mind what I need to remember, and may I follow the direction of your Son, Jesus, all the days of my life. Amen.
