My desire is to become debt free. Forgive me for spending money using credit. I have been a poor steward and I want to do better. Please teach me what I need to do. Show me how to get out of debt and how to can become a faithful steward.
Forgive me for becoming a slave to the god of mammon. I cannot serve two masters; for either I will hate the one and love the other, or I will be devoted to one and despise the other, for I cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24). Please sever all ungodly soul ties between me and mammon, and allow me to be restored in right relationship with You.
The story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) presents a very lavish father who longed for the return of his son. This son eventually came to his senses, and recognized his frivolous spending. Upon conviction, he returned back to his father, and was welcomed with opened arms. Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing me to my senses, and in repentance, I return back home to You.
Bring to mind people I can talk to, and where I can go to get help with my personal debt. I trust you to lead me in the right direction, and to stop me from spending money that does not belong to me. Help me to learn from you, for I want to be a good steward of everything you entrust to my care.
Thank you Father, for you know the plans you have for me, plans to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). As I follow your instruction, and learn from my mistakes, may I manage money properly in accordance with your ways. Amen.
