I pray for those who are grieving right now.
The LORD cares for you, and He understands your pain. Jesus surely took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:4-5).
Holy Spirit, make yourself known to them as their Comforter. Let the Spirit of the Sovereign LORD rest upon them with “a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. May they be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor” (Isaiah 61:3).
May the LORD be close to those who feel brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He promises to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted (Matthew 5:4).
Remember, there is coming a day when God will wipe away all of your tears; there will be no more suffering, and no more pain. Our future is hopeful, because God is faithful, and He always fulfills every word He has spoken.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:3-4)
Be blessed in the redeeming love of our God and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth!
